This Dulcimer is likely from the New England area or specific to Pennsylvania Dutch-German region. Folk painted symbols are indicative of Northern European influence- Norwegian, Swedish, German, Russian.
It has burl veneer finish over a heart pine or other similar wood. Early American Dulcimer "makers" were in Norwich, Conn. Brooklyn New York, and Massachusetts. However this is most probably made by a regional craftsman. Measures 15" width x 38 3/4" height.
